VARIVENT® Control valve
The modular design of the VARIVENT® system offers many different options for optimal adaptation of the valve to the process. The range includes two different valve types.
Type S has a diaphragm actuator and a positioner, while the type P control valve is equipped with a VARIVENT® air/spring actuator and a T.VIS® P-15 positioner.
VARIVENT® control valves are available in two versions. While type S uses a diaphragm actuator in combination with a positioner, type P is equipped with a VARIVENT® air/spring actuator and the positioner T.VIS® P-15. The two variants differ only in the design of the actuator. All components are based on the VARIVENT® modular system principle. This provides the possibility of later converting either the Type S or Type P control valve to the other valve type.
The type S control valve is designed for fast, high-precision process control. Due to a different operating principle, the type P control valve operates at a slightly lower speed. It is not possible to differentiate between simple and difficult control tasks or applications, as the control quality always has to be assessed individually in conjunction with the overall process control. However, the two series can be differentiated based on their options. Process-related requirements on the valve can have a decisive influence on the choice.

Control valves act as actuators in control circuits. In this process, the specific control valve acts as a throttling valve that sets the desired flow rate by changing the pressure loss in a pipeline.
The linear or equal percentage control cone and the corresponding valve seat are located in the fully cleanable VARIVENT®-housing without dead zones. The interchangeable seat ring with associated control cone makes it possible to choose between several KVS values (= flow coefficient) per nominal width. Subsequent adjustments in case of changing operating conditions can be made at any time. All control cones are available in soft or metallic seal versions.
The open lantern makes it easy to detect any leakage due to a faulty stem seal.
Removable clamp joints between the individual modules allow quick assembly and maintenance of the control valve. The valves are available in both effective directions, spring closing (NC) and spring opening (NO).
Position controllers determine the stroke of the valve with high accuracy; a variety of designs allow ideal integration into process control.
The requirement for strict compliance with food production standards means that control valves must be designed to meet the highest hygiene standards of the food and beverage industry.
In the production of pharmaceuticals in the pharmaceutical industry, in chemical process systems or in the technical use of enzymes, cells and micro-organisms, contamination would also jeopardize the process results. Therefore, the use of control valves without dead zones, which can be cleaned efficiently and without leaving residues, is required.
VARIVENT®valves enable bacteria-free processes. The control valves meet high hygiene requirements and allow cleaning of pipes according to the efficient CIP or SIP procedure.
Control valves are used for pressure regulation, flow control or for mixing liquids. Typical applications are: Temperature control in heat exchangers, pressure control in tanks, aeration of wort or dosing of a variety of media. There are a number of different control valves that are adapted to different control tasks.
- Modular design for flexible adaptation to application conditions
- Linear and equal percentage control cones
- Soft- or metal-sealing valve discs
- Low maintenance and assembly due to detachable clamp connections
- Positioner for a large variety of requirements
