What does the material table show?
The table compares common hose and gasket materials - such as NBR, EPDM, FKM/Viton, PTFE, silicone, PUR and PVC - based on temperature range, chemical resistance, steam/hot water resistance, ozone/UV/weather, abrasion resistance, oil/fuel and food approval, among others. The aim is to quickly guide you to the right material for your application.

Basic facts about rubber
Rubber is a group of polymeric organic substances with elastic properties. Polymers in the form of construction materials are commonly referred to as plastics. Plastics refer to construction materials based on polymers. Different rubbers are produced with different additives to give the material the desired properties. These can be, for example, colors or plasticizers.
Rubber is most often black because black usually gives the best properties; gray variants are also common. EPDM is available in more colors, and silicone can be obtained in a large number of colors with different degrees of transparency. Natural rubber is extracted from the sap of special trees.
